Day Seventy-Eight:
No workout today! First day back to work at Second St. and it was great to see everyone again! A week without my "regular's" was starting to wear on me.
Day Seventy-Nine:
No workout today either, which is probably a good thing after the day I had!
Things started off good, until it came time fore me to unlock the Union St side door and I ended up locking myself out of the Y! Yes, yes I am that good. So thinking that since I had my cellphone on me, I'd just call my friend Nick who just finished working out his Biggest Mover team, well....come to find out I programmed his phone number wrong into my cellphone and ended up waking up some random lady at 6AM...SORRY :) So outside I went, ran up the street and came inside the front doors just in time to answer the phone that was ringing. Think that I'll consider that my workout for the day!
Especially since my day just got better from there. Like instead of calling one of my co-workers cellphone, I ended up calling my bosses (who by the way was sitting right behind me in her office!) to telling the lady who came in and said that she was new to the Y and needed direction as to where to park her car and I answered "Well, we park the car's in the parking lot, although we did re-do our front lobby, so I guess we could fit a small car in here." She just looked at me and then started laughing. Starting to think that I may be spending to much time working with Jerry!
Day Eighty:
I asked for it today! Since I didn't have to be to work until 8am, I thought I'd go to the Y for a workout before work and ended up joining the Blue Team (Biggest Mover) for their workout, which may I add was oh so kind of them! We ended up doing things that A) I never heard of and B) never thought I would do. From wall sits to jack rabbits to screwdriver's to the oh-so-lovely kettle ball swings, we did a total body workout! I seriously think by the time we finished our workout, there wasn't a spot on my body that wasn't feeling it!
***Also note to self: If I decided to join them again that early----NEED TO EAT BREAKFAST FIRST!!!
Day Eighty-One:
I'm being really bad again....skipped working out. Thinking that I may need to hire a Personal Trainer just to have someone push me again.
Day Eighty-Two:
Today is my first day off of my 3 day weekends and yes I did workout today! After shoveling my whole intire driveway thanks to that lovely snowstorm we had, off to the gym I went. I ended up doing the ellipitcal but I was only planning on staying on their for a half an hour. 50 minutes later and I was finally getting off. Let's just say I was on one with a TV and really got into the movie that was on.
POLAR EXPRESS!!!! Ahhhh...........gotta love the holiday season!

Day's 72-77
Day Seventy-Two:
No workout today....just wasn't feeling it after working a twelve hour day.
Day Seventy-Three:
Well today I made my way over to the new fitness center and man, didn't it look great! I just loved all of the new equipment....I didn't know where to start my workout!
I started off on the new ellipitcal, where I stayed for 45 minutes and up the level to 10! From there I moved on to the bike, where I worked out for 15 minutes. By the end of the bike ride my legs were killing me...but do you think I'd stop there, no! My last final piece of cardio was the lovely row machine, where I put in another 10 minutes.
Let's just say that when I finished there, I was DONE!!!!!!!!
Day Seventy-Four:
Made it back to the gym today, after a long crazy day at work. I started off on the ellipitcal again, but this time I only stayed on fo 40 minutes. From there I moved on to one of the new bikes with a TV!!!
Now most people would find one of their favorite shows to watch while they're working out, but oh no...not me. I watched the local news! Guess you can tell that I don't watch tv that often, but on the plus side...I did get in an awesome 30 minute bike ride!!!!
Day Seventy-Five:
I think I may of overdone it today! I decided to take two, yes two, classes tonight. The first class was Group Power, which I was joined by one of my friends who's doing the Biggest Mover. After this class, I decided to stay and take Group Groove...thinking that since I just did an hour of weights, I might as well do an hour of cardio. It shouldn't kill me right????
Day Seventy-Six:
What was I thinking.....2 hours yesterday!!!! What am I nuts?!?!?!? (don't answer that)
It took me forever to get moving this morning, my body is so sore. Thinking that I needed to do something, not only to stretch my body out, but also to get a work out in...off to the Y I went to take a pilates class in the brand new studio!
Man, if you want a great workout....then you've got to take this class. IT'S AWESOME!!!!
Day Seventy-Seven:
I'm still a little sore from yesterday and Thursday's classes, so today's Group Groove class shall be interesting. And since it's going to be in the new studio that has a disco ball....I do hope we do a disco song!
When class got started, it was great to not only be able to see the instructor, but to also be about to have enough space to move! Long gone are my day's with my running into the walls, being trampled on by other people and knocking over all the weights!
When we made it to the peak song...my wish came true! Off went the overhead lights, on went the rope lights and yes, you guessed it.................THE DISCO BALL!!!! We did the disco to Stayin' Alive :)
BEST CLASS EVER!!!!

Day Seventy-One:
No workout today….another long day at work. It was also a quite day, with only two classes happening on Sunday’s and both of them being in the am and no fitness center, it made for a quite day. But it does give one plenty time to think….
Day Seventy:
I arrived at the Y on Hammond St. today for Group Groove. I was running a little late to class, but I managed to sneak in to the back of class before the instructor saw me! I was surprised to see that there wasn’t to many people in class this morning, but at the same time there were a lot of new people in class. Guess people were trying to find new way’s to get their workouts in due to the fact that there’s no fitness center at the moment.
Once class was over with, I took a walk by the fitness center and it just seemed so weird. There was hardly anything down there for equipment and no people. In the past, when I got down with Group Groove on Saturday mornings that place was always hopping. Today, not so.
Day Sixty-Nine:
Today is a sad day and for more reasons then I care to mention. I did however manage to drag myself to the gym in the AM before it closed and noontime. This would be my very last workout in the fitness center here at the Y on Hammond St. Beginning on Monday morning, the new fitness center at the Second St. location will be open for everyone to use.
My workout today was another quick one, since I had to become chauffer to my father today and then go and see about getting a new cell phone, since I may of broken mine.
Today’s workout consisted of a quick bike ride (10 minutes) and then one last workout on the elliptical. While I was on the elliptical, I was joined by two members. One of them I’ve gotten to know fairly well through this latest Biggest Mover program at the Y. We had a nice chat and it helped pass the time, before I knew it my half hour was up and it was time to go on with my day.
Day Sixty-Eight:
Today was the day to make up for all of my slacking this week. I spent a total of one hour and 10 minutes working out downstairs. I decided to skip Group Groove and just stay downstairs and when I was starting to lack some motivation, one of my friends kept me company J
My workout started on the bike, but this time I stayed on for a complete half hour. By the time I was down here, not only were my thighs’ starting to get a little sore but so wasn’t my behind!
From there it was on to the elliptical for a 25 minute intense workout….starting to build up that sweat J After I got done here, I had to run upstairs real quick. Apparently every time the phone was ringing in the fitness center, it was for me!
After the phone call, I made my way back downstairs and finished my workout on the EFX. By the time I was done here…I was so ready to go home!
Day Sixty-Seven:
Okay, today you can call me a slacker for as I did not do a workout of any sort. Instead I was told by one of my co-workers and one of the trainers to go home!
Apparently I looked as tired as I felt….thinking that the run on Sunday has finally caught up to me. Because it couldn’t be due to the fact that I work all of the time and treat sleep as an option not as something you need.
Day Sixty-Six:
Today’s workout was a quick one, instead of the usual hour I spend, I only did a half an hour. Go ahead and call me a slacker if you want to but hey, a half an hour is better than nothing!
And it’s not like I slacked during this time either…I did my 3.1 mile bike (hills included!) and I also used the elliptical.
Day Sixty-Five:
Well, no gym workout today and no yoga L
Instead after working a 12 hour day, I got to go home and shovel my front steps and part of my driveway! This it self was a task, due to the fact that we received somewhere around 8” of snow and I was not thinking the night before and grab my shovel from the shed out back. So after I trekked my way into my home for the key and then out back to the shed to grab the shovel… snow went a flying!
I did manage to luck out though….here I was thinking that when I got home, not only was I going to have to shovel my front steps but also the WHOLE driveway, instead of just part of it. But to my surprise, when I rounded the corner of my road…. I saw that I had been plowed!
Day Sixty-Four(Race Day!)
Sunday: Today’s the day! Today’s my 5k run….and guess what it’s snowing in Bangor ! As I travel down to Freeport for the Jingle Bell 5k Run/Walk, the snow has stopped and the sun is shinning…great day for a run!
I’m joined by my 3 cheerleaders, two of whom will be cheering me on from the sidelines and one who will be running with me to keep me motivated! I’ve also been told by one of my other friends that they expect me to win…but I don’t see that happening, I’ll just be happy to finish and not get hurt.
The race got started at 10am and off we went….
The route wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be and I got to see parts of Freeport that I’ve never seen before. It was a great way to decided where I wanted to go shopping afterwards; hey it is the holiday season after all! And when did Freeport get a Hilton???
When we reached about the half way point, I asked my friend how long we’d been out there and when she told me a little over 25 minutes, that when I started thinking to myself “wow, I am doing this and in really good time”.
When we were in the last stretch, those who’d already finished the race were out there cheering the rest of us on and telling us we were almost to the finish line, just a little bit more. As I rounded the corner of the school, there it was…the finish line. I could see the time clock and almost died of complete shock! The time was still under 40 minutes! My cheerleaders were waiting for me on the sidelines, just were I left them screaming at me and cheering me on with big smiles on their faces! As I crossed the finish line, I never felt so proud. I finished a 5k, my first one ever in 38.48 minutes!
There’s only one thing left to say…
BRING ON THIS MARATHON BABY!

Day Sixty-Three
It’s the day before the race; everything that I’ve been training for has come down to tomorrow. I do hope that I’m ready for this and I pray that I don’t get hurt!
Day Sixty-Two
Well, today was the day of my trial run. I traveled down to where I grew up and decided to see exactly how long it would take me to run 3.1 miles, oh and before I forget to mention this, it’s raining and windy!
The course that I picked up for me, I knew was going to be challenging due to the fact that it was mostly hills and just one hill along was ONE MILE long alone! As I started out, I started thinking to myself that this isn’t so bad...but as time wore on, my thoughts were changing. I kept thinking to myself, what did I get myself into…why did I agree to do not only this 5k coming up on Sunday, but why did I think that I’ll be able to do a marathon in October?!?!?!?!
By the time I made it back to the starting point, I’d been out there running for one hour and 11 minutes. I started thinking to myself, that’s not a good time for 3.1 miles….then to my surprise, my mom tells me that I didn’t just run 3.1 miles, I just ran 4.2 MILES!
Day Sixty-One
Opted out of a workout today for a few reason’s….besides just needing a day of rest, I really needed to get some housework done. You can only put it off for so long J
Day Sixty
Well my day went a little better today and I didn't have to work an extra hours!
I started off my workout downstairs on the bike where I decided to change things up a little bit and include some hills. It took me a little over 15 minutes but I managed to go another 3.1 miles!
From there I went to the row machine for 10 minutes, thought this would be a good way to rest my legs and work my arms! After I finished here I moved on to the lovely treadmill. I started off in a nice fast pace jog and when I got about 2 minutes into it, my left calf decided to cramp up, lovely....NOT!
So, I decreased my speed to a fast walk with every now and then going back into the run. By the time I finished here, I'd spent a little over 31 minutes and I may have gone 3.1 miles of it could of been 3.1k....I'm not really 100% sure anymore, but what I do know is that I had one heck of a workout and was about to call it a day when one of my friends asked me to join her for class.
I did end up going with her and making a complete fool of myself and once I mention what class it was, you'll completely understand why and may start laughing. The class I ended up joining her in on was.....
BELLY DANCING.....enough said!

Day Fifty-Nine
OMG, what a day! What originally started out planned for a workout today (2 1/2 hours) did not happen due to the fact I ended up working an extra 2 hours, turned into 1/2 hour workout. So what does one do when they've only got a 1/2 hour, they do the following...
Bike for 12 minutes and 50 seconds, which is the exact time it took me to bike 3.1 miles aka my 5k! Now can someone please tell me why it is easier for me to bike this 5k and in awesome time than it is to run it? Why can't this be your third option? Have people choose between walk, run or bike.
Anyways, from there I moved to the rowing machine for 5 minutes and then finished with a run on the treadmill. It has been a while since I've done an actual run and it was nice. Wonder how sore I'm going to be tomorrow?
PS: Still freaking out about Sunday, but trying to keep it together!

Day Fifty-Eight
By the time I got of work today I'd already miss the begining of Group Groove, so I decided to grab a quick bite to eat before yoga....thank god for turkey leftovers!
Yoga was just the thing I needed today and probably what the doctor would have ordered. I've been so stressed today, thinking about this 5k coming up on Sunday and how I'm not ready. All of my friends keep telling me not to stress, that I AM ready and that I'll do fine. Hopefully they're right and I will do fine...but as for not stressing about it.........yeah right, good luck with that!

Oops, lost my head again....
Day Fifty-Two:
Today’s workout didn’t consist of going to any classes; instead it was a trip downstairs to the fitness center.
My workout started off with 10 minutes on the bike, and then I moved on to the elliptical for another intense workout. By the time I finished my 30 minutes here…I’d worked up quite a sweat. I love this machine because I can burn so many calories and in the very end, I can feel like I’ve done a workout. From there I moved to the row machine. I love this machine too, due to the fact that not only does it keep your heart rate up, but it works both the arms and legs!
After a nice stretch, which is something that I usually forget to do it was time to end my workout. Another day done!
Day Fifty-Three:
Knowing that the Y is going to be closed for the next two day’s do to the holiday called “thanksgiving”, I knew that I had to get a workout in today and I had to make it a good one!
Once again, I didn’t join in on any classes…although I did think about making my way back to that Group Step class. But instead, downstairs I went were I joined one of the follow Biggest Movers for their pre-workout! We started off on the EFX, it’s not one of my favorites but it does get the job done. Especially when you change the direction that your feet are going…boy you start feeling it in your thighs. By the time my 30 minutes were up on this machine, mine were screaming at me!
From there I decided that I’d go back to the row machine. It’s a nice way to work the arms and legs…but not feeling like you’re over doing it. Although, every time I do use this machine the song “row, row, row your boat” keeps popping into my head!
Day Fifty-Four:
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!
No workouts today…it just wouldn’t be right! But I did do pretty good today, I didn’t over eat!
Day Fifty-Five:
Well, today’s workout was NOT your typical workout. First off my day started out at 2:30am for yep, you’ve probably already guessed it……BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING!!!!!
By the time I finished my shopping and decided to call it a day, it was a little after 6pm, talk about a long day! My friends (who didn’t join me until either the 4am hour or 11am hour) and I managed to get some pretty good deals and with all the walking we did today, we figured that would totally count as a workout! We managed to hit 4 department stores and conquered the mall!
We even did great when it came time to order lunch, we all ordered the same thing…..SALADS!
By the time I made it to where I was staying for the night, I was dead! After letting the dogs out and feeding them…we crashed on the couch.
Day Fifty-Six:
I’m still a little tired from yesterday, but I some how some way managed to get myself to the Y for Group Groove! I had to go today because it was going to be a HUGE class. A few of the Biggest Movers were joining in on the class and for some of them; this was their very first time ever!
We ended up having class in the gym and some how I ended up in the front row! That doesn’t usually happen (I prefer to be in the back row) and I just kept saying to myself…please don’t screw up any of these moves because you know people are looking at you! I think I managed to do pretty good, there may have been one time when I didn’t know what I was doing (we were grooving to some older songs, not the new stuff).
All in all, it was a FUN class!!!!
Day Fifty-Seven:
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh……………. I just realized that in one week from today is the 5k. I’m so not ready for this. How in the world did it sneak up on me so fast? I thought I still had more time, at least another week or two. I’m not ready, I’m so not ready…. I haven’t been outside for any trial runs, nothing! I don’t think I’m ready, I don’t think I can do this….why, why did I tell people that I would run a 5k with them…and at the beginning of DECEMBER!!!!!
Guess I better start cracking on this; otherwise it might not look so pretty. Let’s just pray that I don’t get hurt!!!!

Day Fifty-One
Today’s workout was just like every Monday’s workout…hmm, maybe I should really start thinking about switching it up a little bit.
I started off in Group Groove class where I got the most pleasant surprise when one of my camp buddies showed up and decided to take class! It was fun to watch her because you could tell that she really enjoyed the class and was having tons of fun!
I do have to say, by doing Group Groove at least three times a week I’ve gotten to be somewhat good. I’ve definitely learned to let myself go and be free in this class. Granted, there are still a few times when I start to think to myself “is anyone watching me?” but I’m almost to the point where I just don’t care if they are or aren’t. This for me and anyone who knows me, is a pretty big step!
The second class of the night was another one of my favorites, Yoga! I never really thought of myself as someone who would love this class, but every week I look forward to it and can’t wait to go back again. After a stressful day at work, it’s just a prefect way to relax and let everything that’s going horribly wrong in the world go! It’s that one hour where you can completely focus on yourself and find that inner peace we are all searching for! Also with the holiday season upon us, maybe I’ll need to do more than just one night of yoga to DE-STRESS myself from all the crazy people!
After class, I thought about going straight home but decided to head downstairs for something quick. So to the EFX I went for a somewhat intense workout, even though I was only on that thing for 10 minutes my upper thighs were killing me! It’s amazing how much more of a workout you get on the EFX when you’re going backwards instead of forwards. And another plus, 10 minutes on this baby and I managed to burn over 100 calories!
Thinking that tomorrow I should do something that includes weights!

Day Forty-Seven thru Day Fifty!!!
Day Forty-Seven:
Today, I really needed to make up for the fact that I didn’t do anything yesterday since I was a little out of it by the time I was done with work.
The plan was to go downstairs before Group Groove for a pre-work out….but that did not happen. Instead I got caught up in chatting with some of my fellow co-workers and members who came through the door. You would think that after seeing some of these people all the time, there wouldn’t be anything left to talk about….but you’re wrong! If the only thing I had to do to train for this marathon was talk….then I would be a marathon champ by now!
By the time I finished chatting with everyone, I realized that I only had 10 minutes to get ready for class…yikes, where did the time go! I quickly got ready for class and than flew downstairs to apologize to one of my friends who I said I would workout with. After making a promise that I would work out with them Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week (which I plan on keeping), off to class I went.
Tonight’s class was tons of fun, although when they changed one of the tracks on us…it wasn’t a pretty sight in the back row. One of my friends and myself couldn’t do anything right on that one…let’s just say that we both had to left feet.
Day Forty-Eight:
Today’s workout consisted of going on a 4 mile hike through the city forest with a friend and her two dogs. It was a lovely day for a walk outside, despite the fact that you could feel winter in the air. Oh, how I long for the day’s of summer!
This was my first time ever going for a walk through the city forest and I have to say that I did enjoy myself, even right up to the very end….when I twisted my ankle. Hey, it wouldn’t be like me to not get hurt somehow!
Day Forty-Nine:
Today’s schedule was so jammed pack that I amazed that I was able to squeeze in a workout, but I did.
After our staff meeting, I ran over to the fitness center for the quickest, intense workout on the elliptical ever! Well….I probably wouldn’t call it the quickest since I was on that baby for a solid 50 minutes, where I managed to burn over 600 calories! I decided that it would be best not to go for a run today since my ankle was still a little tender from yesterday. Afterwards, it was a quick stretch to make sure my legs didn’t cramp up and then I was off again.
Day Fifty:
Not much to report on today. Took the day off, but since the Y will be closed two day’s this week…I’m going to make the most of the first three day’s. Thinking that I might just move into the Y….officially!

Day Forty-Six
First off I just have one thing to say and that's....GIVE A GIRL A BREAK!!!!
I did not do any workout's today. By the time I finished my shift, I was starting to lose all of my engering and when I missed read what one of my co-workers wrote on the board (actually read Aubochun, I thought it read Ambulance!). I figured that it was best for me to go home and take some much needed rest time. So off I went and did just that.
Hopefully next week I can make it to Group Step, especially since I KNOW that I'll hear something from my friend who'd been teaching for the past two weeks!

Day Forty-Five
Well, I wasn't feeling to bad today so I decided not to take the day off. So downstairs to the workout center I went. Today's workout started off on the elliptical for a 40 minutes. By the time I finished, I wasn't looking so pretty....but I did manage to burn over 500 calories!!!!! That is one thing that I love about this machine is that I burn so many calories is very little time. Although when I got off, not only was I a complete mess, my hips were starting to hurt (thinking I was starting to feel the effects of yesterday's yoga class!) and for some odd reason, my left foot was starting to go numb...go figure!
I was going to continue my workout downstairs but when I looked up at the time, I realized that I had 40 minutes to make it to my meeting at 5pm. So off I flew....only to wish that I was still at the Y working out with my friends. Granted, I could of gone back to the Y after my meeting...but after one of our members asked me if I worked there 7 day's a week, I decided that it might be best if I didn't spend every single spare moment of my time there! Pretty soon people are going to start thinking that I DO live there...and that's not a good thing. Yes, I do have a hard time going home after my shift is done...what can I say, I love where I work and I love the people!
When I finally did make it home, I was going to finish my workout with one of my DVD's...but just couldn't find the gumption to do anything. So I decided to call it a night! Thinking that tomorrow I'm going to try Group Step again....I'm determined to make it through one class without making a complete fool of myself and messing everything up.
I was going to continue my workout downstairs but when I looked up at the time, I realized that I had 40 minutes to make it to my meeting at 5pm. So off I flew....only to wish that I was still at the Y working out with my friends. Day Forty-Four
So...I just came to realize that I did not make my goal. I still have yet to run outside and I probably should really get on that since we're getting down to the wire here on that lovely 5k run! I've just decided that there's NOT enough hours, no make that DAYLIGHT hours in my day! Especially when you spend most of it at work and I'm not one to go running at night time. So, hopefully by this coming Saturday/Sunday I WILL have done a run outside....even if it kills me!
Today's workout was nothing HUGE....just the usual. Group Groove (finally made it back to the Monday afternoon class...it seems like forever since I've been here and I'm happy to report that no one tried to run me over this time! And it was really nice to let loose for once....ahh, I love this class!)
The second part of my workout was Yoga, but the normal instructor was not there this time. So the lady who teaches Fitness Yoga on Thursday nights was there. I didn't know how I was going to like her teaching, I'd gotten use to my Yoga instructor and was the gentleman beside me was telling me ALL about this teacher. Apparently she's a little bit tougher than the lady who usually teaches on Monday nights. I started thinking to myself "what have I just got myself into, is it to late to leave, do you think anyone would notice if I was to walk out right now and not come back?". The last question I knew the answer to, even before I asked it. Sitting right behind me on his mat was my friend who introduced me to Yoga and if I was to leave...he'd track me down! So, I decided to stay and give her a shot.....and what an eyeopener I got!
She was definitely different from my yoga instructor and this was not the type of yoga I'd been doing for the past month. There were tons of balancing poise's and I was very impressed at how good I'd become within the last month! From there we did move on to legs, which were starting to scream at me near the end... especially my calves, quads, hamstrings....oh heck, the whole entire leg was yelling at me! From there it was on to...Ab's!!!! Now seriously, whoever in there right mind came up with these ab routine's...I would LOVE to have a talk with you. By the time we were done working our Ab's and obliques, I was done for. I knew that I was going to be sore tomorrow and really didn't want to anymore. So, when she turned off the lights and told us to lay down on our backs and sink into the floor and relax....I was happy, the perfect ending to a long day!

Day Forty-Three
Okay....I'm so feeling it after yesterday's Group Power class! Not some much in my legs like last time, but my left arm is SO sore right now. Which is really funny and weird when you think about it because I'm left handed and you'd think that it would be my right arm that would be sore. But I know that this is a good sore and not a bad one! Good pain as someone that I know would call it!
Not doing much of a workout today, unless you consider opening and closing both Y's a workout! Back at tomorrow...YEAH!!!!!!!
Not doing much of a workout today, unless you consider opening and closing both Y's a workout! Back at tomorrow...YEAH!!!!!!!
Day Forty-Two
Feeling much better today and made it to the Y for my workouts....2 classes! I wasn't going to go to the first class, but one of my friends walked all the way to the Y and kinda made me feel bad, so I joined her. She was even kind enough to set me up for Group Power. Although, since I was doing class with her there was no way I was going to get away with using light weights on anything! Nope, she had me set-up with big and medium weights. Don't get me wrong, I was allowed to use the smaller weights...but only if I paired them with the medium one's! And trust me, with the up weights I could feel it...especially during the arm tracks. Thinking that I may be a little sore tomorrow, let's see if I'm even able to lift a pen!
The second class of the morning was Group Groove! Class was once again packed and I had to keep finding a new place to stand since the lady in front of me kept backing up. I seriously thought at one point in time she was going to fall right on top of me! Thinking that maybe one of these day's I should be brave and move towards the front of class....nah!

Day Forty-One
No workout's today, even here at home...not feeling 100% today. Guess that means it's time to get some housework done!
Day Forty
So, today's workout did not consist of going to the gym. After the day I was having at work and feeling like I was coming down with something, I thought it would be best for everyone that I would just stay home. But, I did do a workout. Today's workout came from the courtesy of two workout DVDs! The first was a core workout that kills me every single time I do it and the second was a really nice, relaxing yoga DVD. Ahh, ready to call it a night!

Day Thirty-Nine
Man, today was such a long day! It started off great, was wide awake and everything this morning but once my work shift was coming to an end...I was done for. But did one self go home like they probably should of, no they did not. Instead we stayed after and waited until 5:30pm rolled around and why you may ask...well because I decided to live dangerously again and go back to Group Step!
Today's Group Step class was a little bit better than last time I tried it. I managed to remember some of the moves from before, so I wasn't completely lost but there were a few times when the instructor did call me out in the middle of class! A few times were for when I got myself completely lost and forgot what I was doing, which in that class doesn't take much for me! Even at one point, I was so lost that I stopped what I was doing and the instructor made a comment to me and when they went back to teaching they got lost themselves...haha it was so funny!!! Another time that I was called out was right after we finished one of the tracks and the instructor was telling us that the workout we just did is designed for those training for long runs, such as marathon's and was hinting everything at me. Afterwards is when they announced to everyone else in the class that I'm training for a marathon. Some of the people in class looked SHOCKED when this was announced, but I just stood there with a smile on my face...actually come to think of it, it was more like a grin than a smile.
By the time class was over with, my legs were killing me. I'm surprised that I could even move, let alone walk! When I went to gather my things and head home for the evening, every who saw me thought I looked completely frazzled...almost like the walking dead as I was putting it. Guess that means not only did I have a GREAT workout, but that I was done for the day and needed to go home and go to bed!
Ahh......sleep, my dear friend!!!!!

Day Thirty-Eight
Well today was another early day at work which feels really weird, especially after you get use to working 10-12 hour day's either 5 or 6 day's a week.
So after I ran a few errands for myself and a friend of mine (yes, I do help out my friends every once in a while!), I finally made it back to the Y for my workout. I was a little late and was hoping and praying that no one was on my machine by the time that I got downstairs. And to my surprise....no one was there! It was like it was meant to be.
My workout started off on the treadmill, which almost felt like I was back at square one because it had been a few day's since I've done a run on the treadmill. I didn't do too bad, but I do believe (and know that I can) do better. Maybe I should make that another one of my goals this week, try to do better and get back to where I was a few weeks ago on the treadmill.
After the treadmill, I moved on to the elliptical for another intense workout. I even kept moving the level up throughout my workout just to make sure that I got the MOST out of my workout. By the time I left there, I was definitely working up a sweat and for some reason my feet were hurting, go figure!
Lastly, I ended my workout on the row machine where even though I was going to take it an easy, that did not happen. I started off at a moderate pace and then I would work it up to a fast pace (where I think the fan didn't have time to finish spinning around from the last pull before I started with the next one). This crazy workout went on for about 10 minutes and by the time I was finished, I had worked up a nice little sweat.
I opted out of doing any sort of core workout today but think I should of done some sort of stretching because by the time I got home, my legs were starting to cramp up and I'm thinking a really good stretch would of been just what the doctor ordered!
*Note to self: STRETCH BODY (MAINLY LEGS!) AFTER EVERY WORKOUT!!!!*

Day Thirty-Seven
Have you ever had one of those day's that you just know is going to be GREAT??? Well, today was one of those day's for me. I don't know why, but I just woke up in such a great mood and it just continued from there.
I still wasn't able to go outside for a run today, due to the fact that it's still raining cats and dogs. Plus the wind has picked up like crazy. I'm starting to think that I should just deal with the rain and go run outside because it's not like they're going to postpone the race due to the fact that it'd be raining. Heck, I even think they'll have us running in the snow if it started to snow while we were at the start line! My plan is to attempt a run outside by Saturday. Wish me luck! I've already got the route mapped out and yes, hills are included!
Since today's workout did not included a run outside...off to yoga I went. I was going to do the class beforehand but due to some unforeseen events, that did not happen. So off to yoga I went and it felt great to be back. It had been over a week since I'd done yoga and I missed it. But let me tell you something, when we had to do the leg stretches....I SO felt it! I did not realize that I would still be feeling the effects from Group Power two day's later! Guess that class really did kick my butt! Kinda makes me want to go back... hmm, when is the next time I can hit that class????

Day Thirty-Six
Today was sort of another day of rest due to the fact that I was working a 10.5 hour day. So, by the time I got home the last thing that I wanted to due was a workout. I knew that I should of done something, even if it's something small. Hey, everything counts right? Doesn't matter if it's big or small, as long as you're doing something. But I just wasn't feeling it. Instead, when I got home I decided to become all domestic again. It feels weird when I get into these moods and decided to cook up a storm and of course, I always decided to do this when I'm starving! Sometimes I wonder what's wrong with me...why do I get these crazy urges to cook.
Anyways, I've been trying to go for a run outside for the past three day's, but do to this wonderful weather we've been having here in this lovely state (for those of you who don't live in Maine, it's been raining like cats and dogs!), I've been unable to do that. It's hard to believe that my first race is now less than a month away. I do hope that I'm ready for this and don't fall flat on my face. Which would be like me to do, either that or sprain my ankle again! I'm thinking that I should call the race organizer's and tell them that they may need to have medic on hand and just have them follow me all 3.1 miles!!! Let's just say that for this past Halloween, I could of totally pulled off Bella from Twilight! Well, at least according to my mom I could of! Thanks mom!

Day Thirty-Five
I was suppose to do three classes this morning, but I kinda over slept my alarm clock so was only able to make it to two classes. The first one was Group Power, which is a total body workout with weights! I was so thankful that the lady who was next to me was so helpful, otherwise I wouldn't of known what to do or what level of weights to be using. She even let me borrow some of her weights so I wouldn't have to run across the room in front of all the other members to get more! She also warned me that I may be sore tomorrow, we shall see.
Second class shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, it's Group Groove. Today's class was PACKED with people and most of them had never taken the class before, so it was nice to see some new faces. There were a few times when some of us almost ran into the person who was next/behind/in front of us, but it was all good and made for some really good laughes....which just happens to burn those extra calories!!!!

Day Thirty-Three and Day Thirty-Four
Day Thirty-Three:
Today I was crazy, today I decided to work out for two and half hours! The first hour and half were spent downstairs in the workout room. I first started off with a twenty minute bike ride, which may I say that after yesterday's bike ride...my behind was screaming at me! From there I moved on the the treadclimber for a nice, moderate half hour workout. Then since I had a few minutes to kill before my treadmill was open, I decided to use the rowing machine for five minutes. The only thing that could of made the rowing machine better, was if I was on a lake somewhere, preferably where it was warm too! Lastly, it was off to the treadmill for my last thirty minutes downstairs. By this time one of my "new" workout buddies has joined me and way we went for our nice little runs!
My second hour consisted of taking Group Groove, which I managed to talk my friend into joining me. She'd never taken this class before and she was kinda nervous. I told her that she'd be fine and everyone starts out lost in the beginning, so she didn't have anything to worry about. As class began, you could tell that not only was she scared and had no idea what she was doing...but dancing is NOT something she's use to doing. But being the friend she is, she stuck it out till class was over with and told me that she's NEVER doing this again. I guess Group Groove isn't for everyone, huh...go figure!
Day Thirty-Four:
Ahh...a day of rest, something that I needed. Well, unless you consider flipping a QUEEN size mattress around when you're only 5ft tall a workout...then I guess today wasn't a complete day of rest!

Day Thirty-Two
So one did not decided to live dangerously and go to Group Step today. Although I was all ready and was telling everyone that I was going to go back to that class, by the time that I made it back to the Y class was just starting. And I'm not the type of person who likes to walk into a class that's just started and try to set everything up while people are staring at me. So, downstairs I went for my workout.
As I was setting myself up on the bike, I'd realized that it's been a few day's since I've worked out downstairs. So, as I was warming up I took a look around the gym to see how many people I recognized. It was nice to look around and see so many friends and people that I hadn't seen for a while. Must mean that winter is right around the corner and everyone is starting to make their way back home aka the Y!
After I finished my 6.5 mile bike ride, it was off to the weights for some arm workouts! From their we worked the chest by doing chest presses with 12lb weights on a stability ball. Then it was on to an awesome ab and oblique workout (okay, so it really wasn't awesome but it is something that has to be done. this stomach of mine isn't going to get any smaller any other way!) and then we finished with a 5 minute cardio workout on the EFX machine.
I felt pretty good after my workout, it didn't feel like I over did any certain part of my body. Tomorrow the plan is to come in early and do a small workout downstairs before class. Here's to hoping that I follow through and don't decided that sleep is more important!

Day Thirty-One
Well, today felt really weird. I went downstairs to the gym for the first time in what seemed like forever for a workout. I started off on the treadmill with a nice light job/run for about 25 minutes. Then it was off to the elliptical for a moderate workout. Once I was done there I went upstairs to try a class with one of my friends. Yes, the same friend that I mentioned in the last post. We thought we were going to be taking Group Active, but when class started....we found out we were wrong. We actually ended up taking a class that's called Get Fit and this is not a bad class. About half way through, you could tell that we were really working it! Sweat was just pouring right off of us and we were downing the water any chance that we got. There is some weights in this class but it's mostly working your legs with and without a step. Let's just say by the end, you can definitely FEEL THE BURN!
I was going to stay for the next class, but opted out due to the fact that it was election day and I had yet to go and vote. So off I went.....
Let's see what's in store for tomorrow....thinking about living dangerously and going back to Group Step!

Day Thirty
Here's to another rest day...cheers! Okay, so maybe today wasn't an actual planned rest day but I decided that it was best to service my SUV before things got worse. Besides needing an oil change (you know how you're suppose to change that either every 3,000 miles or 3 months....well, that's not something that I'm good at. It kinda slips my mind, oops!), I've now discovered that my heater no longer works. No, I take that back...it does work. Especially if you enjoy having ice cold air blow on you when you're traveling to work at 4am and it's 32 degrees outside!!!
So, here's to hoping that I may it back into the gym tomorrow. The "plan" is to join one of my friends for a couple of classes, we shall see. I'm thinking that I'll join her for at least one...but I'm still not 100% sure about the other one quite yet. Stay tuned....

Day Twenty-Nine
Who in their right mind gets up at 5AM on their day off??? Do you know how dark it is at that time in the morning and cold!!!!
Today was a day of rest though and, a much needed one! My body was still sore from the other day. If you could see me right now, you would be laughing your head off watching me try to walk up and down stairs. Darn those kettle ball swings! Thinking that I'm gonna need to book that massage soon because I could of really used it today!

Day Twenty-Eight
What in the world was I thinking, why in the world did I tell two of my friends that I would join them today at the Y for Group Active and Group Groove. When I woke up this morning, I couldn't move. My body hurt from my head all the way to my toes. My cat thought it was pretty funny watching mommy try to make her way through the trailer and get ready for the day, I on the other hand did not think it was funny. But being the good friend that I am, I dragged myself to the Y for class.
When I pulled into the Y's parking lot, I noticed that neither of them were even there yet. I started thinking to myself as I set the three of us up for Group Active, "If they don't show up and I dragged myself here for nothing, they are so going to hear from me." But with 5 minutes to go before class started, they both come dragging in (they're still in pain for their workouts yesterday, glad to know that I'm not the only one!). Group Active for those of you who've never heard of this class covers everything and it's great for beginners. You start off with 20 minutes of cardio step, then move into weights were you work your arms, back and chest (with a little bit of legs). Then you move into working your balance, core and end with some nice stretching! It's an awesome workout and I would recommend this class to anyone who's starting out!
After this class, I took a little break till Group Groove. I love this class if you couldn't already tell! It's one of those classes were you just get your heart rate up and have so much fun at the same time. I ended up talking one of my friends from downstairs into joining me in the class. Which he did and it was actually pretty funny watching him try to get his "GROOVE" on! But I do have to say, he didn't do to bad. Now, I wonder who else I can get to join me in this class....stay tuned!
Once class was over with, I could barely move and knew that there was no way I was going to do any sort of workout with the of the girls who are on the Y's new Biggest Mover. But I'm with you guys all the way in heart!
I'm thinking that tomorrow is the perfect day for a rest, especially since I won't be able to make it to the gym and I've just now realized that I've been going at this since Monday with no rest day. What was I thinking, but don't worry....I'm sure that I'll have something cleaver to say for tomorrow!

Day Twenty-Seven
Oh, today was such a bitter sweet day. I arrived at the Y this morning for my workout knowing that in the back of my mind this will be the last time I'll be training with Kevin. It was an awesome workout and it made me miss my Biggest Mover day's.
We started our workout with a 5 minute warm up and stairs six times, then we moved on to kettle ball swings (30lb weight) and the row machine, doing each for a minute a piece three times. Then it was off to my favorite thing in the world...BENCH PUSHES!!! This is where we push a bench from one end of the gym to the other with about 80-100lbs on it and we do this three times. In between these we were slamming 25lbs balls into the floor (which is a great way to get out your frustration...I found this out during my Biggest Mover, especially when I'd just broken up with my ex and found out he'd been cheating on me with my ex-best friend for the past three months!) After these, we moved on to push ups and squat with dumbbells (which when I was doing these Kevin decided to make a comment about me using the 20lb one's since someone else was using the 30lb one's, so what does one do....we grab the 40lb ones and finish our workout!). It was one of the best workout's I've had in a long time!!!
One would think that after that workout they would be done for the day, but no. I decided to come back later on in the day and do 35 minutes on the treadclimber. I can now officially saw that I am done for the day!

Day Twenty-Six
Nothing to exciting happened today, thought about skipping my workout and just say home and sleep. But my cat and neighbors were not going to let that happen, so off to the Y I went. I was going to do a workout downstairs in the fitness center, but my friend who really pushes me decided to cancel on my at the last minute. So, since I needed to get something in off to Group Groove I went! It was another exciting class and full of laughes. Especially when my friend Kylie and I almost ran into each other and the lady who was "grooving" in front of me wasn't paying attention to what she was doing and almost walked right on top of me!
But I did get an excellent cardio workout and my legs were still killing me from Group Step class the night before. Hopefully tomorrow I'm not in to much pain....I'm joining the new "Black Team" of Biggest Movers for their workout, since my trainer Kevin will be training them in his very last workout. Wish me luck!

Day Twenty-Five
Oh my body, legs, calves and feet are killing me right now! I just got done taking my friends step class and before I took this class I heard he was intense, but I didn't think it was going to be as insane as it was. There were so many twist and turns, up and downs in that class that I'm surprised that I didn't fall flat on my face. Although I did come close to hurting myself a few times. Let's just say that my legs are not as long as some of the other participants in that class, so trying to make it from one end of the step to the other under 5 seconds is NOT going to happen! I have no idea how people find this so called torture FUN....but then again, this was only my first time and I shouldn't knock it quite yet. Whether or not I go back for more is another question. Although, if you do want to take a class were you work up a really good sweat and can get an awesome cardio workout in one hour, then I totally recommend joining the Bangor Y and taking the Group Step class!

Day Twenty-Four
So you would think that one would head one's own advice and not do any cardio today, but nope that didn't happen. Don't get me wrong, I did do some strength training...but not enough to really count for anything. I did a 5 minute arm/chest workout, nothing to big. From there I moved on to the elliptical, where I was told by one of my friends that I wasn't sweating enough. Umm....yeah, that's a new one. So what does one do...they crank up the level to a 12, let's see who sweat's more now!
There was one thing that I could of done without during tonight's workout and that was the girl working out next to me on the elliptical. It was fine when we both started out, but about half way through my workout (she stayed on my longer than me) she decided that it was WAY to hot downstairs, so she needed to take off her shirt and workout in her sports bra! Whatever happened to this so-called family environment we're suppose to have in this gym?
Anyways, tomorrow night I may be in pain. One of my friends is teaching a step class tomorrow night and they've been after me to take their class for quite some time now. I've never done a full hour of step, so this shall be interesting. I'm planning on hiding in the back, hopefully my plan does work and here's to hoping that I'll be able to move afterwards!

Day Twenty-Three
Ahh...life is good again! After getting a full night of rest, I was ready to take on the gym. First step was an hour of cardio dance (Group Groove), then downstairs I went for another intense workout. Warm up was a 5 minute run on the treadmill. From there I moved on to the treadclimber for a half an hour (for those of you who've never used a treadclimber, it's kinda like a treadmill except for the fact that where you stand moves up and down).
After I finished there, one should of been smart and called it a day....but no, I decided to continue on with my workout. I don't know if I was trying to make up for lost time or what, but I was definitely in the working out mode and working up a sweat!
I ended my workout with a 15 minute bike ride and a 10 minute run/walk on the treadmill. And I just now realized that I've been working out for 2 hours! Man, it's been a really long time since I've done that much cardio in one day. Thinking that maybe tomorrow should be a strength training day with very little cardio, that's if my legs don't quit on me!

Day Twenty-Two
Man oh man, today was a long day. I could of stayed in bed for another 3 hours, but off to work I went. I was really thinking about skipping a workout today and just crashing in bed much earlier than normal...but I didn't. Since I had to work all day, there was no time to make it to the gym today. So, today's workout had to be done in the comfort of my home. Thank goodness I'm prepared for day's like today! I just put in my workout dvd's in to the player and away I go. Managed to squeeze in a good core workout and then ended with a nice and relaxing yoga.

Day Twenty and Twenty-One
Day Twenty: Oh man, no workout for me today! I can't move....my whole entire body hurts. How I managed to make it to work this morning is beyond me. Starting to think that I may of over did it yesterday.
Day Twenty-One: Today's workout is not what one would consider normal. My day started off at 7:15am loading and unloading cars for our annual auction. Setting up, which included moving chairs and tables. Taking a small break from that to run back to the Y where they were having the Biggest Mover Kick Off and I just happened to be a guest speaker! Oh and one of the local news TV stations were there filming (I do think I managed to avoid all camera's). After I finished there, it was back to the auction were my day/night didn't end until 10:30pm and I could hear my bed calling my name....ahh, sleep!

Day Nineteen
My body is so sore, it's amazing that I can even move. But being the good girl that I am, I dragged my behind downstairs for another day of training!. Since I was sore, I opted out of the usuall run on the treadmill and decided that I was NOT doing any arm workout's. (How I even managed to left a pen today was a miracle in itself)
No, today's workout consisted of biking for 3 miles, intense half hour workout on the elipitcal (where this baby through everything imaginable at me!) and then I ended with 10 mintues on the EFX crosstrainer. By the time I was done....my thighs and calves were SCREAMING at me. Now starting to wonder if my body was sore before this workout, how am I going to feel tomorrow?????

Day Eighteen
Surprise, surprise...my legs feel great even after yesterday's workout! Since I wasn't feeling horrible, I decided I mine as well workout and not take a rest day. So downstairs to the gym I went but decided to switch it up a little today. Instead of the usuall run only on the treadmill, I started of with a 3 mile bike ride (which I managed to complete within 11 minutes!). Then it was on to the elipitical, for a very intense half an hour workout. By the time I finished there, I took a small break and decided I needed to work on my upper body and some abs too. After finishing some much needed strenght training, I finshed out my workout with a 10 minute run on the treadmill. I'm starting to think I'm falling in love with the treadmill, it's getting to the point that if I don't go for a run on it for atleast 10 minutes, I don't know what I'm going to do with myself. Someone please help me!
Side note: Decided to check in with one of my friends to see how her training for the 5k is going. Found out she's having a hard time too! Between working long crazy hours like me and the day's getting shorter, she's finding it hard to go for a run outside. Hopefully she'll be able to get in some workout's before the 5k. Here's wishing her good luck too!!!!

Day Seventeen
My calves are killing me! I ran on the treadmill for 20 minutes, actually make that 15 minutes of running time and 5 minutes of walking/slow jog time. I'm thinking that I'm going to be really sore tomorrow, if I'm not then it's going to be some sort of miracle! I do believe that's the longest that I've ever ran on a treadmill, which is amazing for me. But I do have to start running outside, even though being outside in the cold does not sound like fun to me. Hmm.....wonder if there's anyway I can make one of those heated blankets portable????

Oops, Where has my head been???
Okay, it's been awhile since I've last written so please forgive me, I've been just a tad busy! Work has been really crazy, especially with our annual auction coming up this coming Saturday. I've also been getting ready for one of my most dreaded season's....WINTER! But I'm happy to say that my place is ready to go for that first sign of dare I say it...snow. Hopefully that white stuff is still a way's away, but then again I do live in the state of Maine and you never really know what the weather is going to bring you here.
My training has been going really good. Even though I haven't been in the gym as much as I would like, I've still been able to get some type of a workout in. It truly is amazing how much of a workout you can get just by doing some yard work! I did however make it to the gym yesterday and I'm still able to run for twelve minutes with no problem. Who know's maybe I was suppose to be a runner all my life, but never took the time to realize it.
Side Note: It was nice to see some of my friends this past Saturday and hear them say that they're proud of me and cheering me on as try to complete this crazy task. It makes me happy to know that there's SO many people out there behind me! Thank you all!!!!

Day Eleven
OMG....OMG...OMG!!!!!!
Okay remember two day's ago when I said by the end of the week I wanted to be able to run for 3 minutes by friday with NO problems. So yeah, managed to reach that goal....TODAY! I managed to run on the treadmill today without having to stop and slowing down my speed for a total of.........TWELEVE minutes. That's right people you heard me, I ran on the treadmill for tweleve whole minutes without stopping. I'm on such a BIG natural high right now that I feel like I could take on the world....that's if it required me to run!
So, this training thing is really starting to pay off....which is why I'm proud to say that the first stop in my training will included me running in the Jingle Bell 5k Run/Walk in Freeport, ME on December 5, 2010! Feel free to join me by either running or cheering me on!

Day Ten
Opted out my daily run for some nice, rock solid core workout! My abs are killing me....you'd think that someone out there could find a better way to design a core workout without having your abs screaming in pain. But, I guess I should look on the bright side and picture the awesome stomach I'm going to have.... someday! I've even found a new way to workout at home, since my cat is always wanting my attention... she's now become part of my workout routine. Whether it be me caring her around (she may be small, but after awhile she can get kinda heavy!) or lifting her up and down while I do squats, it's a nice way for us to spend some time together. Oh and she LOVES dancing!!!! (actually it's more like, hey let's attack mumma's feet while she's dancing around the place.)

Day Nine
Oh man....it felt soooo good to get back into the gym even though I shouldn't of done yoga first. But I do have to say that I was VERY limber for my run!
I'm suppose to be running up to 3 minutes with no problem by now, but that's not happening. I'm still hanging out at the 2 minute mark...I may be able to go a little bit further than that, but not by much. That'll be my goal for this week. By Friday I want to be able to run for 3 minutes WITHOUT hitting the stop button because that little voice inside my head keeps telling me that I can't do it and that I'm going to hurt myself.
I found out today that one of my friends is planning on running a 5k this coming December and she wants me to join her. I'm debating on whether or not to join her. It might not be a bad idea.....

Day Six, Seven and Eight
Day Six: No crazy workouts today! Kinda sore from yesterday, but I managed to find something that wouldn't hurt me to much. Climbing stairs to my seat and cheering on my local college hockey team. Thinking this is the best workout to date!
Day Seven: Dragged myself to the Y for a workout on my first day off in six day's! Thinking I could of stayed in bed for another 3 hours....but better to get it over with now than later. Decided that I needed to switch up my cardio a little bit, instead of doing the usuall run of the treadmill.....so off to Group Groove I went. For those of you who don't know anything about this class, it's one hour of DANCING! And boy, it sure get's your heart just a pumping! About 15 minutes into class, I started wishing that I brought more than one water bottle with me, the new stuff was killing me! Highlight of class though had to be when we were in the middle of our "break" dance song and we were shaking our botties, when one of the instructors had to call me out. Great, just what I need everyone in class looking at me....guess your not even safe when you're hiding in the back row!
Day Eight: Well today wasn't a great day. No real workouts today.....worked a long day! Opened and closed both buildings and by the time I got home I was DEAD! Sleep has now become my new best friend! But tomorrow is a new day and I WILL make it to the gym after work, no putting it off any longer!

Day Four and Day Five
Day Four: I hate to say this but I didn't make it to the gym....decided to stay home instead and shake away this stupid cold!
Day Five: I'm back and ready to go full force again! Gotta make up for missing yesterday and even though it felt good to take a day off, I actually missed not going to the gym. I'm starting to think that I'm a gym junkie, but at least I'm not as bad as I once was. I do believe that for the months of Jan, Feb, Mar, April and May I pretty much lived in the workout center. Back then it would of been normal for me to spend the minimum of 2 hours working out with the max being 4 hours. Now I'm good with an hour, maybe two.
Training went pretty good. I'm now able to run on the treadmill for TWO whole minutes before I need a break(walking/jogging for one minute) and I was able to keep this pace up for a whole half hour. Never in a million years did I think I'd be running on a treadmill, let alone doing it with such ease. After the nice run, I decided that I needed to add a little bit more to my training......can someone say weight training time! There's nothing like ending a run with some leg presses and dead lift's with 30lb weight!
Side Note: I was asked by one of the members working out downstairs that if they just stood their and watched me run on the treadmill, if they would be able to loose some calories and call it their workout. If loosing calories was that easy, then man I'd be sooooooooooooo skinny right now!!!

Day Three
Day three of training has to be my favorite so far. Why you may ask, because I didn't have to run on the treadmill! It was my first official "non" running day and I'm begining to think that I'm going to like those day's. I did however make it down to the gym for my evening workout and I actually worked up more of sweat than I have the past two days, so much for taking it easy! Although, it was hard to concentrate on my workout with the crazy teenage boy running around the workout center. I swear that boy had an attention span about as long as my pinkie finger nail. He couldn't stay on a machine for more than 5 seconds and they're were a few times I thought he was going to hurt himself. Let's just say, the night person working downstairs had their hands full with that kid.
Side note: I have a new nickname....I'm now being called "Marathon Maria" and apparently this is going to be on the back of my shirt. Gotta love my "Y" friends!

Day Two
Well, I have good news.....I did not hurt myself today on the treadmill! Today was actually a fairly decent day. I was focused and managed to hit every stride with ease. Although my hips were hurting, I pushed thru the pain....and I felt great afterwards. I didn't look pretty with the sweat pooring down my face and my hair all over the place, but I didn't care. It's not like I was there to impress anyone and besides most of the people who were in the gym the same time as me have seen me at my worse! (Flashback to the Biggest Mover, the stuff my trainer "The Punisher" put us through you wouldn't believe. Besides walking away with bruises, I may of had a few other injuries, but I won't get into those....not too pretty!)
I do however have a new note to self: Do Not EAT before going for a run on the treadmill!

Day One
Okay, today was my first official "marathon" training day and even though I've been working out in the gym on a regular basis since January(which has helped me loose a totally of 55lbs to date!), today totally kicked my butt! My attempt to run on the treadmill for a half an hour was very comical. I do believe that at one point I almost took a small digger. Thankfully none of the other members inside the gym noticed, they were to busy either chatting to one another or very focused on their own workouts. Although that doesn't mean I didn't walk away without getting hurt...because that wouldn't of been my style! At one point, when I was totally focused in my run I got a little to close to the front of the treadmill and WHAM, smacked my right hand into the bar. Note to self....no daydreaming while running!

First crazy dream came to me while I was sitting at work waiting for the next member to walk in, it had been a slow day. While I was sitting there, I thought to myself...Hey let's train for a MARATHON! So, after throwing this idea out there to my "trainer" friends, they said "you should". So, here we go! First day begins on Sunday October 3, 2010 with the goal being that I'll run in this marathon in October 2011. Wish me luck!
